Tequila is a Mexican distilled spirit made from the blue agave plant. It is made in the City of Tequila, which like many drinks, is also its name’s sake. The origins of Tequila are thought to date back to around 250-300AD when it was used as a ceremonial wine. Today, tequila is typically between 35% and 55% alcohol content or at least 40% alcohol to be sold in the United States or Canada. Our tequila is FDA registered for the US market.
Don Chameleon Mexican Tequila
Together with our partners in Mexico, we supply Tequila in glass, in a range of bottle sizes. This is an interesting market. There is a definite trend towards the Consejo (The Mexican Council on Foreign Relations) increasing its control over the bottling of Tequila, with a strong desire for this to remain local. It is our view that this is driven by a concern for local employment. It is impacting bulk export. This is why The Spirit & Whisky Company is now completing its current and future contracts in Mexico. This we believe, will protect the supply from any possible barriers in the future.
Don Chameleon is our own brand Tequila, available in 70cl and 75cl, 1L, 1.75L as well as minis in 5cl. The Don Chameleon brand is registered with the FDA for the United States.
